Release: Pig & Dan, Mark Reeve – Psychonaut EP [Waveform]

First track of the EP is called “Psychonaut”. The vocal stabs, percussive hits with a funky groove, combined with a pumping bassline deliver a steady techno banger with a slightly minimal touch.

The next track that’s on the EP is “Bubbles”. This little gem takes you on a higher level with its hypnotic synth and ambient sounds, making it a perfect 5am dance floor killer.

Last but not least, is Santos’ remix of the track “Bubbles”. This darker version of the original goes like a train that knows no final destination. Run for cover when this bomb hits the floor!

Release: Daft Punk feat. Pharrell Williams & Nile Rodgers – Get Lucky [Columbia]

Coachella seems so have something special each year, because this year a trailer has been played where all the collaborators of the Daft Punk album were announced, including the loop everyone knows by now ‘Get Lucky’, but now with vocals from Pharrell Williams. Get Lucky is already the most hyped song of the forthcoming Random Access Memories album, because that is the only song they use to promote their album. The vocals from Pharrell Williams fit pretty well on the track, so Daft Punk definitely did a good job to do a collaboration with him. In the third episode of The Collaborators Nile Rodgers talks about his guitar play for some of the most greatest disco records of all time. Daft Punk invited him over to the studio to come and play, and then the guitar chords of Get Lucky were born!

The other collaborators on the album are: Julian Casablancas, Panda Bear, Paul Williams, Nile Rodgers, Giorgio Moroder, Chilly Gonzales, DJ Falcon, and Todd Edwards.

Pharrell Williams has really captured the essence of the new Daft Punk album in this episode of “The Collaborators.” He manages to give us a vivid, first person account as to what is in store for us. Many artists reflect on and compliment the works of others, but for some reason I feel this sense of greater understanding in Pharell; I feel connected on a personal level to his thoughts and emotions towards music. His understanding of, and divine connection, to music is one that almost any human being can relate to, no matter where you come from or what music you listen to. I love how descriptive and intimate he is on the subject of Daft Punk’s return. Pharrell believes that music today has lost its soul. He says that Daft Punk is taking a step upwards by going back to a magical time in which music, and its liveliness, is what moved people. He also described music today as synthetic, and missing “a gut.” He describes the new Daft Punk as music that is representative to the freedom of all human beings, and that it belongs to the entire globe. According to Mr. Williams, Daft Punk has chosen to stay, here with us on Earth. After watching this video, I’ve grown in a great amount of respect for him. I not only look forward to the entire album, but I am also excited to see how much Pharrell will grow after this extraterrestrial contribution.
