Okay, so maybe you can argue that New York City isn’t the best city in the world but you absolutely cannot argue that Electric Zoo will feature the best DJs in the world. With Made Event’s recent lineup release, the festival’s Main Stage East and Main Stage West Headliners encompass 5 of the top 6 artists in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs of 2012: Armin Van Buuren (1), Tiesto (2), Avicii (3), David Guetta (4), and Hardwell (6). In fact, only 9 out of the 30 headliners do not appear on that Top 100 list: Flux Pavillion, Showtek, Excision, Otto Knows, Bassnectar, Cazzette, Krewella, Diplo, and Rusko. These 9 DJs are still all incredible artists and it’s safe to say that most of them will end up on DJ Mag’s 2013 version. Regardless of rankings, or lack thereof, these DJs make up the most impressive E Zoo lineup so far and that is testament to the founders’ commitment to “improving the Electric Zoo experience”. Think of dance music and chances are you conjure images of bronzed, Balearic bodies under the shadow of camouflage netting and a plane on final approach. Or a Gotham warehouse transformed into the darkest of dark rooms with rib-shattering sound, minimally furnished save for a strobe or mirror ball. Perhaps a muddy field in the depths of the British countryside during a month that’s supposed to be summer, praying for warmth and sun; the list goes on… What won’t be on that list though is Russia because, whilst the States, Ibiza and Britain were developing their own – soon to be legendary – dance cultures, it had the small matter of perestroika and an emerging democracy to deal with.
Fast forward twenty years and we find the former Soviet Union more than making up for lost time, with some of the most dynamic clubs, festivals and, more importantly, DJ / producers in the world; a vast, vibrant, exciting country that can now boast a scene that’s equally as vibrant and exciting.
Leading the charge of the new wave behind this cultural tsunami is the young, supremely talented Eitro, whose CV already boasts labels such as Spinnin’, Doorn, Garuda and Ultra, picking-up support from an EDM who’s who of AVB, Avicii, Guetta, Tiesto, Thomas Gold, Sander Van Doorn, plus more along the way…
Now this ever-growing band of famed comrades is set to continue with ‘Verve’, a sonic tour de force that undulates between ethereal melody, arpeggiated bass, Brazilian-inspired drums, arm raising breakdowns and a riff that qualifies as the dictionary definition term of ‘hairs on the back of your neck’. “Verve started as a bit of an experiment for me,” explains Eitro,”I wanted to produce something that represented my own style of music whilst being truly special. I hope the fact it’s found a home on John Dahlback’s Mutants suggests as much, but one thing’s for sure – it’s an honour to be here!”
Get ready for the Eitro revolution because it’s coming to a dancefloor near you soon!
Eitro “Verve” will be released February 12th on Mutants Records.
Please tell us what do you think, any kind of feedback is highly appreciated. Cheers!
