Eric Prydz brings us another masterpiece with his alias Pryda. Power Drive has been previewed on Pete Tong’s BBC Radio 1 show this week and will be released April 1st on Pryda Recordings. This track is absolutely Pryda style, as it has the typical sounds that Eric Prydz has been using for his Pryda tracks over time. Groovy tracks with deep melodic elements and a strong build-up with orchestral instruments.

Throwback Thursday #5

A lot of great dance music has been produced over the years. To ensure that these tracks will never be forgotten, we will post a once-thriving track every Thursday! We feel it’s a necessary refreshment of the past that will be sure to bring back memories. Hopefully it will give you the same awesome feelings that it had once given us. This week we have chosen: Call On Me by Eric Prydz!

The year is 2004, summer’s coming to an end. I’m only 9 years old. As I’m swimming in the pool with all of my cousins at one of our many family barbecues, this gem comes on the radio that we have set up on the patio. When the beat dropped, I believe it was the 1st time “dance music” had taken control of me. All us kids were bumpin to the beat as we swam around & were dancin on the diving board as our parents yelled, “Get down from there before you hurt yourself!” You know, just goin’ crazy as most kids do! I made my mom buy it on CD, even though it was only available at a record store in downtown Chicago. That’s right, my mom’s so awesome that she drove over an hour there n back for one CD… I have a feeling she liked the song too ;D Haha, the rest of my summer was spent by riding my bike around the neighborhood, headphones on with Eric streaming through my CD player; swimming with Prydz blasting through our patio stereo system; and dancing in my room till it was “bed time” as this trance-inducing masterpiece bumped through my little, bedroom radio. Still to this day, I listen to it almost regularly; it has a spot on almost every playlist on my iPod. I’ve even incorporated it into my Dj sets, even though it’s two-thousand and freakin thirteen! I hadn’t discovered the music video until a mere few years ago, and have realized that it MAY have been a crucial player in its massive success. If you know what I mean… Enjoy!
