10. Zedd Ft. Matthew Koma – Spectrum (Deniz Koyu Remix)
Really cool remix made by the Turkish DJ & producer Deniz Koyu. Other remixes of this track are made by big names like Armin van Buuren, Arty, Congorock and Gregori Klosman & Tristan Garner. Deniz Koyu is definitely talented producer we should keep an eye on.
9. Keane – Silenced By The Night (Alesso Remix)
The original song by the English band Keane was a big success after their comeback. Reason enough for the Swede Alesso to make a remix of it. It scores on a lot of events like Masquerade Motel, Summerburst, Electric Daisy Carnival and of course in his own Essential Mix on BBC Radio One. The top highlight for this song was the #1 position on the Beatport Top 100.
8. Afrojack feat. Shermanology – Can’t Stop Me (Kryder & Tom Staar Remix)
Great banger with lovely vocals from Shermanology. This Remix has been made by two great remixers from the UK. You might know them from their remix of ‘ Don’t You Worry Child’ which has been listed on the playlist of One Last Tour. Dirty South, Alesso, Deniz Koyu, Thomas Gold, Steve Angello and Arty are normally no names who would play a song by Afrojack but they all played this Remix of an Afrotune.
7. Deadmau5 feat. Chris James – The Veldt (Tommy Trash Remix)
It’s almost impossible to improve the original song by Deadmau5 and vocals from Chris James but the Aussie Tommy Trash did a great job. This remix has been nominated for a Grammy Award, was a part of Pete Tong’s the Essential Selection, dropped by Avicii at Tomorrowland and also played by a lot of other big names like Otto Knows, Alesso, Laidback Luke, Hardwell and Deadmau5 himself.
6.M-3ox ft. Heidrun – Beating Of My Heart (Matisse & Sadko Remix)
Since last year, Matisse & Sadko made some big steps to the top. One of them was the release of ‘Trio’ on Axtone, a great tune made by Russian brothers together with Arty. This song gain support from DJs like Thomas Gold, Alesso, Swanky Tunes, Tiësto and the Swedish House Mafia.
5. Miike Snow – The Wave (Thomas Gold Remix)
Great remix by this German guy Thomas Gold. It has been released on Axtone and have full support from the Swedish House Mafia. Thomas Gold was not the only one who made a remix of a song from Miike Snow, Dirty South made one of ‘Devil’s Work’ and Deniz Koyu made one of ‘Pretender’.
4. M83 – Midnight City (Eric Prydz Private Remix)
Beautiful track with some fine tuning by just another Swede. Fortunately he leaves the great elements of the original. A lot of DJs used this song in combination with the vocals of ‘Sweet Disposition’ better known as Dirty South’s mash up. A great track for every moment.
3. Eric Turner vs Avicii – Dancing in My Head (Tom Hangs Remix)
The internet was already filled with set rips from this track, but since last August we are able to buy the full version. in Autumn 2011, Future Music Magazine visited the Swede and explained how he made this song. Weird it took so long till the release but however something else than Levels and an amazing tune.
2. BURNS – Lies (Otto Knows Remix)
And another Swede in this list, a schoolmate of Avicii called Otto Knows. He made a remix of BURNS – Lies which is originally based on Deborah Cox – It’s Over Now from 1998 and it has been supported by a lot of top DJs. One of them is Tiësto, he played it for 8 weeks straight during Club Life which resulted to a radio edit by Sony Music.
1. Ivan Gough & Feenixpawl feat. Georgi Kay – In My Mind (Axwell Remix)
Well, for all of us this isn’t a big surprise but definitely the best remix of 2012. Armin van Buuren noticed this banger and played it at Privilege in Ibizia during his sets. This track has been listed #1 position on the Beatport Top 100, was seen as summer anthem of this year, made his debut on Pete Tong’s Radio One and had almost a Grammy Award for best Remix. Thumbs up for Swedish House Mafia member Axwell but also especially for the Australia’s producers Feenixpawl and Ivan Gough.
